Over a decade ago, we set out with a simple mission: give more people hope in their health. What started as a small chiropractic office in Lakewood Ranch has grown into a comprehensive health center serving thousands of families across the Suncoast.
Why We Started
Because “Take This Pill” Wasn't Good Enough
Before The Roots existed, our founders — Dr. Logan and Dr. Laura Swaim — watched family members cycle through doctor's offices, collect prescriptions, and never get real answers. The healthcare system was designed to manage disease — not restore health. That never sat right.
Chiropractic school revealed a different path. The nervous system — the brain, spinal cord, and every nerve in the body — controls and coordinates every single function. When the spine shifts out of alignment, it puts pressure on the nervous system and the body starts breaking down. Not all at once, but slowly. Headaches. Digestive issues. Sleep problems. Pain. Fatigue.
The idea behind The Roots is simple: instead of chasing symptoms with medications, find where the nervous system is being interfered with and correct it. Let the body do what it was designed to do — heal from the inside out.

A Decade of Growth, One Family at a Time
A Dream Takes Root
Dr. Logan Swaim and Dr. Laura Swaim — a husband-and-wife team of chiropractors — moved to Lakewood Ranch with a single mission: give more people hope in their health. Starting from a small office with a handful of patients, they set the foundation for neurologically-focused care that addresses root causes, not just symptoms.
Growing Through Word of Mouth
No big marketing campaigns. No billboards. Patients started referring their families, friends, and coworkers because they were getting results they couldn't find anywhere else. The practice grew organically through trust and outcomes.
Little Roots Is Born
As more families walked through the doors, a clear need emerged: specialized pediatric and prenatal care. Dr. Laura — ICPA Webster Certified — led the creation of Little Roots Pediatric Chiropractic, a dedicated wing focused on gentle, neurologically-based care for infants, children, and expecting mothers.
Expanding Our Services
We added advanced technologies including shockwave therapy and spinal decompression to serve patients with chronic conditions more effectively. The goal was always to bring specialized services under one roof so families wouldn't need to drive all over town.
A Growing Team
Dr. Grayson Fox joined The Roots, bringing advanced training in chiropractic neurology and a passion for caring for kids and families. With three doctors on staff, we could serve more families and expand the depth of care available in a single visit.
Becoming The Roots Health Centers
The name evolved from "The Roots Chiropractic" to "The Roots Health Centers" — reflecting the reality that we had grown far beyond traditional chiropractic. Red light therapy, pelvic floor rejuvenation, neuropathy protocols, and more joined the lineup.
